Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is also referred to as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the US and Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been for a long time, starting at when she was nine years old. This skill has helped her get her first job at Univision, Miami. She could work with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. In St. Petersburg, she was employed to the CBS station to work as a sports journalist. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. She covered stories about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs throughout Texas and Mexico. She would also fill in on occasion as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasstation, which is where she takes on more responsibility. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason and the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. She was a host of sports for the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. In addition, she served as anchor of the sports segment for Primer Impacto, a magazine program that airs on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born on the 22nd of November in 1985. She also has an older sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. In 1992, her parents separated soon after. In 1995, she got married again Fabio Fajardo, naval engineer, who passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, the young Collins was able to take a job along with her sister. Antonietta still a senior at high school but she was clear about the career she was looking for. While deciding if Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta decided to go visit the university. In the end, she loved the school and the university offered the major she was looking for. She graduated from school and was went to the university as an undergraduate major in media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who also managed WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed over the years, became her friend. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence and whose passion for journalism deeply touched her. In turn, she determined to meet his demands and never let him down.
